Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles Illustration

Illustration inspired by the BBC wildlife documentary series Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles, presented and filmed by Hamza Yassin. Season by season, each programme uncovers the amazing array of wildlife that we have at home across the UK. I created the illustration around the central theme of the series: ‘Wonder is everywhere – if you know where to look’. Watching the pure joy and excitement that Hamza experiences while out on his wildlife spotting trips, whether it be in the Scottish Highlands or in the heart of the city, inspired me to capture this delight through illustration. Using collage and hand-drawn elements, my illustration captures some stand out moments from the series: Hamza spotting a kingfisher for the first time, Atlantic Bluefin tuna hunting off the UK coastline and a pair of great crested grebes dancing in Cardiff docks.
