Underwater Illustrated Repeat Pattern

Illustrated repeat pattern inspired by a trip to the Maldives, where I stayed on local island, Thulusdhoo, for a magical week of underwater adventures. This repeat pattern is an ode to the island’s house reef which is brimming with out-of-this-world marine life.  Sting rays, reef fish and coral are captured in vibrant hues as bright as the reef itself.

I started off working in analogue, collaging ink drawings and paper cuts from my sketchbook, before splicing everything four ways and rearranging the pieces to create the repeat tile. The pattern was coloured digitally and applied to a variety of women’s swim and surf wear.
