A seven layer fully hand screen printed poster commissioned for Printclub London’s renowned Blister’s exhibition. 50 artists both established and emerging were asked to print an edition of 50 posters inspired by their favourite novel or author.
I was inspired by the quote ‘I simply am not there’ from the novel American Psycho. It sums up Patrick Bateman’s feelings of being lost in the capitalist, self-obsessed, yuppie world of 1980s Manhattan where individual identities are irrelevant and people only tell one another apart by designer label suits or which restaurant they ate at the night before. The print started life as a collage and the deliberate removal of the characters’ faces represents this lack of identity and individuality.
